Phil is most definitely a glass-half-full kind of guy. He’s so positive that he sees the silver lining before the cloud has even appeared. (But then you have to, as a lifelong Watford supporter). A dedicated husband and father, Phil somehow manages to balance his home life with the constant demands of his Gate ‘family’ (we’re generally after more pocket money).
Phil originally trained as a journalist, but lucky for us decided that advertising reaches the parts other industries can’t reach. Clarity of thought is his trademark, and ‘The Hawk’ can always be relied on to spot the most elegant solution to a problem. He is passionate – exuberant, even – about advertising and the agency (as anyone who has sat next to him at an agency do can testify).
Critical and encouraging in equal measure, Phil commands respect and inspires affection. We love his energy and dedication, and the ability to make any situation seem like an opportunity.
